Whole Body Vibration – Get Faster Results From Your Care

Get Better Results From Your Care.

One of the key components missing from most Chiropractic Clinics is Rehab. Physiotherapists, on the other hand, may have fantastic rehab – but alas are often unable to provide the corrections to restore normal Spinal Biomechanics.

To assist in our Rehabilitation Programs we use a number of different devices, physical therapies, exercise therapies, mirror image exercises, Spinal remodelling and traction equipment.

One of the most popular, and evidenced based machines, used to assist You in Your recovery is Whole Body Vibration (WBV).

WBV can be used to assist with virtually all strength, stretching and rehabilitation programs. The 3D Vibrational Technology provided by our medical grade plates is quite impressive in its ability to help you recover faster, improve your flexibility and stimulate muscles you never thought you had!

‘Is Acupuncture As Good As Drugs – Or Better?’

A number of patients recently have been commenting on the recent publicity Acupuncture  has been receiving in the news lately.

Acupuncture is just as good as drugs at relieving pain in people’s lower backs and from sprained ankles and migraines, a ground-breaking hospital trial has found.

The extraordinary finding could open the door to Australian hospitals offering the low-cost Chinese medicine therapy used by more than 1 billion people worldwide for pain relief, particularly in Asia.

Acupuncture has been trailed in the emergency department of a number of leading Melbourne Hospitals, including the Alfred, Northern, Cabrini and Epworth.

The purpose of the trial is to see if acupuncture could relieve acute pain in patents presenting to hospital and how it would compare to the normal drug protocols.

Introducing The Musculoskeletal Profile

Many patients really struggle with neck pain, back pain, headaches, arthritis, stress and chronic pains.

And of those patients, it is bewildering that many have years of treatment with varying practitioners, spending thousands of dollars – and NEVER having these key nutrients tested.

It is highly unlikely you will ever achieve a great outcome in the care if these key values are not right.

Now optimal is the key here.

Near enough is not good enough.

If you are paying north of $60 a visit to a therapist or practitioner you need to have the key nutrients at the optimal level to get the best out of your care. You need to get this right.

If you are using natural medicines or health supplements you need to know if they are working and you are taking the correct amount.

Further more being in a ‘normal’ range is quite different than being in an optimal range to encourage the body to heal.

Low Return for Spinal Steroid Injections

A recent article published in the Medical Journal Of Australia has caused more than a little stir regarding the effectiveness of Spinal Steroid Injections.

The article, also picked up by Rheumatology Update states that steroid injections in the spine for low back pain should not be subsidised since the procedure is no better than placebo.

This is a significant issue in the orthopaedic community as there has been a doubling of the use of the procedure without research data to back it up.

The cost to the community is also significant. But, hey it goes on our medicare bill so why worry about it?

Time to Reculture the Bowel

Proper levels of good bacteria promote intestinal health, good immune function, and support overall health.

Excess bacteria, or the presence of harmful bacteria, yeast, or “parasites” such as amoebas and protozoas, can cause “leaky gut,” systemic inflammation, and a wide range of clinical problems.

Intestinal flora can become imbalanced by poor diets, excess stress, immunosuppressive drugs, antibiotics, or exposure to contaminated food or water, all of which are common with today’s diets.

Spinal Health Week

It is Spinal Health Week.

An intiative of the Chiropractic Association of Australia, this is a great way to raise public awareness of the importance of the spine in your overall health.

Ok, so what’s so great about Spinal Health Week?

Your spine is of course central to the health of the body. It is indeed the primary control mechanism of the body.

A recent community based cohort study of older adults in Japan showed a strong correlation between spinal posture and future dependence in activities of daily living.

According to the authors:

Accumulated evidence shows how important spinal posture is for aged populations in maintaining independence in everyday life.

However, the cross-sectional designs of most previous studies prevent elucidation of the relationship between spinal posture and future dependence in activities of daily living (ADL).

We tried to clarify the association by measuring spinal posture noninvasively in a community-based prospective cohort study of older adults, paying particular attention to thoracic curvature, lumbar curvature, sacral hip angle, and inclination to determine which parameter is most strongly associated with dependence in ADL.

Basically the study concluded that the more spinal decay, the more hunched over you are – a kyphosis – particularly in the thoracic spine (mid back) the greater the level of incapacity.
