Core Strength and Back Pain
It is important to have an understanding of the ‘core’ muscles and their function in core stability.
The ‘Core’ muscles develop what we call the powerhouse, essentially consisting of a ‘box’ of muscles. Ensuring correct posture is executed during exercises and movements will assist in strengthening core muscles.
Exercise; specifically core exercises are often a forgotten or misunderstood treatment for lower back pain. These muscles support and brace the spine during movement. Therefore, strengthening them can help to prevent further flare ups and allow distal muscles like the hamstrings, to work more efficiently.

Thoracic Spine Rehab Seminar
Dr. Hooper will be attending a Thoracic Spine Rehabilitation Seminar in Sydney this weekend. This seminar is focused on Chiropractic BioPhysics Rehabilitation and Case Management of the Thorax (mid back).
Therefore, due to the seminar obligations the Practices will be closed on Friday December 2nd until Monday evening December 5th. Normal hours for both Practices will resume on Tuesday December 6th, 2016.
This Rehab Seminar will cover the most update research and latest developments in the treatment and management the thoracic spine, postural correction and arthritic prevention.

Case History: Patient with Lower Back Disc Injury
Mr. B. is a 47 year old male factory worker that attended the Practice with acute debilitating lower back pain and disability. He was suffering chronic spinal pains, mid back and lower back pain with associated myofascial (muscle) weakness in the lumbopelvic region.
He could not work, walk, sit or sleep without significant sharp and stabbing pains into the lower back, aching and weakness in to the legs. Prior to attending the Clinic the patient had a series of cortisone injections into the spine with little effect. He was using Lyrica and Panadene.
The patient had been referred to a surgeon in preparation of the lower back disc removal and fusion. The patient was informed the surgery would cost approximately $100,000.00. He attended the Practice for a second opinion.
This is the result of his care:

Chiropractic BioPhysics Research Videos
Chiropractic BioPhysics: At the Forefront of Chiropractic Research
With nearly 200 Randomised Controlled Clinical Trials (RCT’s), Chiropractic BioPhysics is at the forefront of Chiropractic Research. Indeed CBP leads the way in Spinal Rehabilitation, Postural Correction and Structural Alignment.
The Spinal Centre is committed to bring CBP to Australia in its purest form with all the rehabilitation techniques and spinal remodelling equipment required to achieve structural correction. In particular, The Hawthorn Spinal Centre is perhaps one of the largest Chiropractic Corrective Care facilities in Australia.

Research Video – Lateral Cervical Curve Reliability
This is the first video posted by Dr. Deed Harrison, president of Chiropractic BioPhysics Non Profit, explaining the origins of CBP research and in particular the X-ray assessment of the neck (cervical spine).
Importantly, this video relates to the reliability of lateral cervical curve radiographic analysis. In easy terms, this is the validity of the measurements and angles we use to analyse your X-rays as a patient.
The video will help you as a patient understand why we look at X-rays of your neck, what type of angles and curves we are looking for, and the research that supports this type of analysis.
